Position Summary We are looking for a Lab Technician 1 Microbiology - Fixed Term Contract in 4606 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. V5G 1K5 CAN. Your mission will be to:

Review LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work

Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) when conducting following work:

Perform sample preparation and procedures prior to analyses

Perform some basic testing procedures

Identify any non-routine samples and seek guidance on procedures for handling

Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements Identify and communicate procedural non-conformances to Supervisor

Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials

Provide general laboratory support Update supervisor/manager workstation status including advance notification of any delays

Support and comply with policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program

Participate, when requested in department and Health & Safety meetings

Participate, when requested in internal and external audits

Keep work area clean, neat and organized

Maintain training records and relevant qualifications

Other Duties As Required

At any time, the incumbent must behave and operate in an ethical and Code of Conduct compliant manner

Qualifications Required Post-Secondary school education or equivalent experience

Detail oriented with accurate record keeping skills.

Qualifications Desired Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills.

Strong computer skills

Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Adapt to a changing environment Work both independently and as part of a team

Must be able to learn quickly

Communication Internal: Laboratory Operations, Customer Service and Sample Logistics Departments

May involve long periods of standing Some lifting and carrying (up to 10kg)

Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate equipment

Compensation Package Overview Compensation Range $20.36 - $23.57 hourly CAD
