Technology Head

Reports to: CEO Location: Winnipeg, MB, Canada or Bangalore, India Opportunity: ERLPhase Power Technologies Ltd. is seeking a Technology Head who will spearhead and keep us on the competitive edge for all product development initiatives. This individual will use their strong technical foundation to create clear product visions that align with company and customer requirements to create the best products by leveraging the ERLPhase brainpower of multiple departments. This individual will be professional, proactive and detail-oriented with the ability to assess, define and communicate new technological requirements in a manner to facilitate product development initiatives. The ideal candidate will be technically well versed with Power Systems knowledge and terminology, with a specific focus on Power System Protection and/or Recording. Responsibilities: • Work jointly with Sales & Marketing, Applications Engineering and Product Managers to identify requirements, trends and new innovations within the Power Systems and other industry sectors. • Define, propose, and participate in development initiatives in collaboration with internal technical resources, senior management and other technical resources, with a key focus on productization. • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of existing product lines, keeping pace with industry standards. • Responsible for the conceptualization, feasibility and definition of projects encompassing hardware, embedded firmware and user interface software. • Define and spec project scope, goals and desirables in support of business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. • Participate as a stakeholder in product development initiatives ensuring proper delivery of features and functionality supporting product, market and business objectives. • Estimate the necessary budget, resources, participants and skills needed to validate and productize corporate initiatives. • Coach, mentor, and motivate team members to grow internal skill-set and provide influence to take positive action and accountability for assigned activities. • Build, develop and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project. Skills & Qualifications: • Master’s Degree or higher academic credentials in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with Power Systems focus, or equivalent industry experience. • Minimum 10 years practical working experience with similar electric power systems and sound knowledge of practices & philosophies. • Ability to compile and assess information from various sources (industry standards, technical specifications, market data, etc.) to develop actional development specifications. • Ability to work with marketing, applications and technical resources to devise and propose potential product initiatives and accompanying business justification. • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. • Strong computer and business software skills. • Ability to work independently as well as in team environment. • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities. • Background check results satisfactory to ERLPhase. • A valid driver’s license and a passport.
