Job Description

Lead technical initiatives as a Backend Software Engineer with Affirm's Merchant & Partner Lifecycle team. Focus on system architecture improvements, mentoring, and innovative development strategies while enjoying remote-first flexibility.

Affirm is seeking an experienced backend software engineer to develop the new lifecycle-orchestrator service. With a strong emphasis on Domain-Driven Design and distributed systems, you will facilitate architectural consolidation. As a technical leader, you will collaborate with peers, mentor upcoming engineers, and align project goals across teams while fostering a hands-on development environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and enhance platform scalability for global merchants

• Align project work with cross-team engineering goals

• Mentor team members and support their growth

• Execute strategies for complex requirements effectively

• Improve engineering standards and processes organization-wide

Requirements:

• 5+ years as a backend software engineer

• Proficient in data models, API design, and state machines

• Strong grasp of event-driven architecture and database design

• Experience with AWS, gRPC, Snowflake, Kotlin, and Python

• Familiarity with monitoring systems like Sentry or Kibana
