Mercor invites you to become a Propulsion Systems Engineer focused on frontier AI models. Your work will involve creating prompts and assessing responses to enhance safety and misuse detection.

This engineering role emphasizes hands-on experience with propulsion and initiation systems, seeking engineers who can effectively discern legitimate queries from misuse attempts. You will engage in a writing-intensive process to ensure sophisticated AI models communicate technical inquiries understandingly. Your ability to navigate complex evaluations will be critical in shaping a responsible AI framework.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create single-turn prompts across three response categories

• Review AI outputs based on rigorous policy standards

• Establish reference answers explained thoroughly

• Analyze the dual-use implications within propulsion scenarios

• Provide expert insights derived from practical testing experiences

Requirements:

• Engineering experience in propulsion systems or warhead design

• Background in safe-and-arm and initiation engineering

• Strong history of technical documentation and writing

• Involvement with test range engineering preferred

• Capability to articulate technical nuances clearly
