Job Description

Be a pivotal part of Xero's AI initiatives as a Distributed Systems Engineer. Lead the design of systems that power AI features for millions of daily users.

This is a senior-level position requiring a hands-on expert with over five years of experience in building production systems. You will make critical architecture decisions while managing technical debt and collaborate with other engineers to enhance data utility. Mentorship of junior engineers will also be a key aspect of your role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design scalable distributed infrastructure for AI applications

• Drive architectural decisions for cost-effective systems

• Manage the team's technical debt effectively

• Mentor and develop junior engineering staff

• Collaborate with Applied Scientists for production model integration

Requirements:

• 5+ years in developing production Python services or equivalent

• Strong coding and system design skills

• Proven ownership of production systems and pipelines

• Familiarity with operational responsibilities and incident response

Contribute to the advancement of AI technologies at Xero while fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
