The company has an opening at its Design & Development Center located in Bromont, Quebec for a Product Development Engineer.

FUNCTION SUMMARY We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Product Development Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team in the medical device industry. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development of innovative drug delivery devices, primarily focused on reconstitution and injection systems, supporting projects from concept generation through design, prototyping, testing, and transfer to production. This role involves hands‑on engineering work including CAD design, performance testing, data analysis, and preparation of technical documentation, while collaborating closely with internal teams, clients, and external partners.

Work directly with leading pharmaceutical clients on custom drug delivery device development programs

Contribute to a wide range of innovative projects, from early-stage concepts to commercialized products

Develop devices intended for injectable drug delivery, including reconstitution systems and administration mechanisms

Operate in a highly hands‑on prototyping and testing environment, leveraging in‑house capabilities including 3D printing (multiple onsite printers), CNC machining, and manual fabrication techniques

Be actively involved in product testing, data generation, and technical documentation supporting development, design decisions, and regulatory requirements

This position, based in Bromont, Quebec, offers an exciting opportunity to work within Duoject Medical Systems, part of Novocol Pharma and the Septodont group. The position will report to the Product Development Engineering Manager.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Product Development Design and develop new products or improve existing medical devices from ideation to production transfer

Perform iterative CAD design with a focus on functionality, robustness, and manufacturability

Build and refine prototypes using in‑house capabilities (e.g., 3D printing, CNC machining, manual fabrication)

Testing & Validation Plan and execute product performance testing (e.g., force, torque, dose accuracy, functional testing)

Develop test methods and analyze results to support design decisions

Support verification of product requirements and robustness of performance

Contribute to the generation of reliable test data to support development and regulatory activities

Technical Analysis Analyze test data and results using appropriate engineering and statistical approaches

Develop solutions based on a strong understanding of product behaviour and performance

Documentation & Compliance Prepare and maintain technical documentation including test protocols, reports, analyses, drawings, and specifications

Ensure traceability between product requirements, test methods, and results

Support quality and regulatory documentation activities in collaboration with QA/RA teams

Collaboration Work closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, QA/RA, and Project Management

Participate in meetings with clients and suppliers, supporting technical discussions as needed

Continuous Improvement Contribute to improving prototyping methods, testing approaches, and internal processes

Support maintenance and optimization of prototyping and testing equipment

General Follow all safety guidelines, company policies, and standard business practices

Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS Education Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Experience Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in product development or mechanical design

Experience in medical devices or regulated industries is an asset

Technical Skills Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and simulation tools

Experience with prototyping, testing methods, and manufacturing processes

Knowledge of engineering analysis techniques and data interpretation (experience with FEA is an asset)

Understanding of R&D documentation practices, including test protocols, reports, and technical records

Communication Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English

Fluency in French is required, as the working language within the Bromont site is primarily French

Ability to communicate effectively in English with clients, suppliers, and corporate partners

Analytical Thinking Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyze and interpret technical data

Detail-oriented Detail-oriented with structured and methodical approach

Team Player Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams

Work Environment & Availability This position requires regular onsite presence due to the hands‑on nature of prototyping, testing, and use of specialized equipment. Occasional remote work may be possible depending on tasks and circumstances, but the role is intended to be primarily site‑based in Bromont.

If the incumbent does not have the Professional Engineering Designation (P. Eng.), incumbent will use the title Product Development Specialist.
