The Structural Designer is part of an engineering team delivering services for large and small heavy industrial and mining projects. The role is responsible for producing structural 3D models and 2D drawings in accordance with project requirements under the supervision of the Lead Structural Designer. The successful candidate will support a variety of projects involving reinforced concrete and structural steel design for industrial and mining facilities. Responsibilities include structural steel and concrete modeling and drafting for front-end planning and detailed engineering phases of multi-discipline projects.

A typical day: Assist the Lead Structural Designer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost and schedule

Coordinate the work of draftspersons in the preparation of contract drawings, record keeping and other statistical work

Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software as required

Perform conceptual layout work

Develop design details

Ensure coordination with designers and engineers within the discipline and with other disciplines

Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models

Verify onsite condition and dimensions relating to existing facilities

Successful candidates will have: Technical school diploma specializing in civil/structural design

4+ civil structures design experience with a focus on industrial and mining projects

Experience within a large project, multi-disciplinary EPCM environment

Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D structural design/drawing software packages

Experienced with Microstation OpenBuildings software.

Knowledge of Revit and Autocad is an asset
