The Bridge Educational Society, which operates the Okanagan Waldorf School (OWS), K-8, as well as the Early Years Centre (EYC), licensed birth-school age care, is currently seeking an inspired educational leader to step into the role of Head of School. OWS is a Group 1 BC Independent School, an AWSNA associate membership school, and WECAN developing member nestled against the forest in the Whitevale community just outside of Vernon BC. The EYC is part of the $10/day prototype. We have a dedicated faculty, experienced Board of Trustees, motivated administrative team, and a committed parent body. We seek a motivated and experienced educational lead to join our leadership team and support our work in collaboration with faculty, board, and parents as we move toward the evolving vision of the future of our programs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in B.C. Ministry of Education compliance, Child Care Licensing, and faculty support and development. We are located within the Rural Northern Immigration Program’s (RNIP) approved geographical area. Qualifications Have experience in a Waldorf educational organization
Executive leadership skills with experience managing budget, development, and fundraising
Be highly collaborative, results-oriented, adaptable, problem-solving self-starter who seeks feedback to continue professional growth
Values process and continual need for understanding individuals and situations
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Previous experience working with or in an organization that holds an elementary school and/or child care centre and educational programming
Be positive, thoughtful, passionate, motivating, and empowering with staff and students
Possess an understanding of and a commitment to high academic standards within the BC Ministry of Education
Be organized and computer literate, with proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, Google Docs, etc.
Graduate degree in Education, Organizational Leadership, Business Administration, or equivalent
5+ years of educational; Independent school non-profit leadership experience preferred
Must be able to be legally employed in Canada
Areas of General Responsibility Hold the title of Principal with the Ministry of Education for OWS
Work effectively with the Board of Trustees
Promote and oversee financial performance and viability
Promote organization mission and strategic goals
Work effectively in the organization operations
Collaborative oversight and evaluation of curriculum development
Support effective admissions and enrolment practices
Focus on oversight of daily operations and campus development
Terms and Compensation Full-time (1.0FTE) 12-month continuing contract
Salary commensurate with experience
