About the Clients:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 86-year-old couple in Oakville. The husband has dementia with progressing symptoms over the past six years. He requires reminders for daily activities, medication management support, and supervision due to occasional wandering. He uses a walker outdoors and has experienced falls. While he can feed himself independently, tremors make mealtimes challenging. He remains mobile and his English comprehension is strong, though Punjabi is his comfort language. His wife, also 86, serves as his primary caregiver but faces increasing mobility challenges herself and walks with a cane. She manages household duties but would benefit from support and companionship. Both parents are homebound and would greatly benefit from structured activities and outdoor engagement. Responsibilities:

Provide supervision and safety monitoring, especially for wandering prevention Assist with medication reminders and ensure proper administration Support with bathing and personal care as needed Prepare light meals, including reheating and feeding assistance Accompany both clients on walks outdoors with appropriate mobility aids Engage in cognitive stimulation activities including reading and conversation Perform light housekeeping and tidying Provide companionship and social engagement Establish and maintain a structured daily routine to prevent sundowning Ensure clients are appropriately dressed for weather conditions Occasional transportation for errands or appointments What We're Looking For:

PSW certification required Experience with dementia care and cognitive support Ability to provide memory prompts and gentle redirection Comfortable managing two clients simultaneously Patient, calm demeanor with positive energy Strong initiative and problem-solving skills Excellent communication with family members Valid driver's license for occasional transportation Experience with mobility aids including walkers Reliable, consistent, and punctual Schedule:

Afternoon visits, 2 times per week, 3 hours per visit (6 hours weekly total). Consistent weekly schedule to establish routine and familiarity. Flexibility to adjust as care needs evolve. Pay & Hours

Caregiver should help establish structured daily routine to prevent sundowning and sleep schedule reversal. Father still reads well in English but Punjabi is comfort language. Mother's English is limited but functional. Focus on keeping both parents active and engaged throughout the day with walks, games, and interactive activities to reduce isolation and maintain cognitive function.
