Engineering Manager in Generative AI

Job Description

Join Baseten as an Engineering Manager for Generative AI, where you will lead a team dedicated to improving LLM performance and customer engagement. This role is equally focused on hands-on engineering and leadership.

As a Player & Coach, you will oversee and mentor Forward Deployed Engineers, ensuring successful deployment of high-performance AI models. Your skills in Python and experience with LLMs will directly influence the quality of our AI solutions offered to clients.

Key Responsibilities: • Mentor a team specializing in LLM deployment and optimization • Ensure high-quality outputs in a multi-project environment • Collaborate across functions to align priorities and goals • Drive customer-focused engineering initiatives actively • Oversee end-to-end design and deployment processes

Requirements: • Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline • Minimum 4 years’ software engineering experience with management • Strong programming skills in Python for ML applications • Proven experience optimizing LLMs and managing performance • Exceptional collaboration and communication abilities
