Sr Mainframe Developer

Contract | Hybrid, Toronto ON | 40 hrs/week | Start: September 25, 2026

We are hiring a Senior Mainframe Developer for a hybrid engagement in downtown Toronto with one of our enterprise consulting clients. This is a hands‑on development role on large, business‑critical mainframe systems, and it suits someone with a deep COBOL background who is comfortable owning design through to production support.

What you will be doing Design, develop and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL and DB2

Work across IMS DB/DC and VSAM data structures, including file and database design

Write, unit test and debug programs, and support automated testing on the mainframe

Troubleshoot production issues, tune performance and maintain existing systems

Build and support XML based interfaces and Tibco integrations

Develop and maintain SAS programs and applications where required

Partner with business analysts, QA and downstream teams through the full delivery cycle

What we are looking for 10+ years of hands‑on mainframe development experience

Strong COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, VSAM and TSO

IMS DB/DC experience

Mainframe application design experience, not just maintenance

SAS and SAS application development

XML and Tibco

Automation testing on mainframe

Solid debugging skills and the ability to work independently in a large, established codebase

Nice to have Financial services or banking domain experience

Experience modernizing or interfacing mainframe systems with distributed platforms

The details Location: Toronto, ON. Hybrid, onsite at 199 Bay Street.

Type: Contract, 40 hours per week, 12 months

Rate: $58.57/hr on T4

Target start: September 25, 2026

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Background check and proof of address required prior to start.

Subcontracting is not permitted on this role.
