About the role:

Our North American Legacy Assets are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the execution and delivery of capital projects and ensure the implementation of good management practices for mechanical and electrical maintenance across our portfolio of water treatment plants.

The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and be responsible for ensuring our Legacy Assets meet Glencore’s Goals and Objectives related to sound project management and asset management.

The position requires a strong understanding of financial and budgetary controls, including meeting the requirements of Glencore’s Capital Management Framework (CMF). Additionally, the role will favour an incumbent with technical knowledge and experience in mining, tailings, water management and/or treatment.

In this role, you will:

Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, consisting of employees as well as contractors, responsible for the execution of capital projects, the reporting and tracking of progress against our Legacy Assets capital management plans and budgets, and the implementation of a common asset management system.

Ensure implementation of, and adherence to, Glencore’s Capital Management Framework and Asset Management Framework.

Be responsible for budget planning and cost management for your department.

Work across departments to ensure a shared understanding of priorities and objectives, and work effectively with peers to resolve challenges when they arise.

Provide staff with coaching, mentoring, and support career planning and professional development.

Conduct performance reviews and continually improve the team’s capability and efficiency.

Act as a Subject Matter Expert in your technical field of expertise.

Participate in the continuous and sustainable improvement of your department and ensure that decisions and actions meet Glencores Health, Safety, Environmental, Communities and Human Rights policies and commitments.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate and/or Graduate Degree in a relevant field of engineering or science from a recognized university

Minimum 10 years of related multi-discipline and management experience, preferably in mining, water treatment or reclamation

An understanding of environmental science, geochemistry, geotechnical engineering, water management and/or water treatment disciplines and applicable regulations would be a strong asset

Professional Registration (P. Eng.) in the Province of Ontario, British Columbia, or Quebec, or eligible for such registration

Proficient in the application of Project Management Practices

Language: Fluent English (written & spoken) required, French language skills a strong asset

Travel: Up to 30% of time, largely within Canada and US
