Location: East of Calgary, Alberta

Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift

Hours: 8 to 10 hours per day (40 to 50 hours per week)

Duration: Approximately 4 to 6 weeks

Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands‑on mini excavator operation, trenching experience preferred

Certification: Valid Class 5 driver's licence; Ground Disturbance and CSTS-2020 an asset

Transportation: Own reliable transportation required to travel to and from site daily

The Role GrizzlyTrek is seeking Mini Excavator Operators to join our valued client's team on a trenching excavation project east of the City of Calgary. This is a contract position running approximately 4 to 6 weeks, Monday to Friday, with 8 to 10 hour days.

You will operate a mini excavator to dig, shape, and backfill trenches to grade and specification, working closely with the site supervisor, spotters, and ground crew to keep the work safe, accurate, and on schedule.

What You'll Do

Operate a mini excavator to excavate, trench, backfill, and grade to project specifications

Read and follow grade stakes, line markings, and direction from the supervisor and spotters

Dig safely around located underground utilities and follow all ground disturbance procedures

Maintain safe trench conditions, including sloping, benching, and shoring as directed

Load and move material, spoil, and debris around the work area

Complete pre-use equipment inspections and perform basic daily maintenance and greasing

Report equipment issues, hazards, and near misses promptly

Participate in daily hazard assessments and toolbox talks

What You Bring

Minimum 1 year of experience operating a mini excavator in construction or excavation

Ability to trench and grade accurately with minimal supervision

Solid understanding of excavation and trench safety practicesValid Class 5 driver's licence and your own reliable transportation

Ability to commit to the full 4 to 6 week project, Monday to Friday

Own CSA-approved safety boots and standard PPE

Preferred Qualifications

Ground Disturbance Level II (201) certification

CSTS-2020 or equivalent construction safety training

Standard First Aid and CPR

Experience working around buried utilities and in residential or municipal servicing

Experience operating skid steers or other compact equipment

Work Environment

Outdoor work on an active trenching and excavation site east of Calgary, through fall weather conditions

Physically demanding work including standing, bending, and lifting on uneven ground

Daily commute to site in your own vehicle; no camp or site transportation provided

Strong safety culture with daily hazard assessments and toolbox talks
